About this role

If you became a veterinarian to practice medicine (not meet corporate metrics) we'd love to meet you.

Located in the heart of Colorado's spectacular Southwest, Bayfield offers an unmatched quality of life. Spend your days off hiking, mountain biking, skiing, fishing, hunting, rafting, or exploring millions of acres of public lands—all just minutes from your doorstep. The pace of life is refreshingly slower, the community is welcoming, and it's a place where work-life balance is more than just a buzzword.

Our privately owned small animal hospital in beautiful Bayfield, Colorado, offers the rare opportunity to build lasting relationships with clients, practice high-quality medicine, and enjoy the freedom that comes with an independent practice. Every day brings something from routine wellness care to challenging medical and surgical cases that keep your skills sharp and your work rewarding.

We believe the best patient care comes from collaboration. Our experienced doctors and dedicated support staff work together, share knowledge, and genuinely enjoy helping one another succeed. Whether you're an experienced veterinarian or looking to continue growing under the guidance of seasoned colleagues, you'll find a supportive environment where learning never stops.  Ours is not a rigid 5 days-a-week schedule and we are closed on weekends.

Our hospital is well equipped with extensive in-house diagnostic capabilities and seamless access to reference laboratories, allowing you to work up cases thoroughly and confidently. You'll have the opportunity to practice a wide range of medicine, including:

  • Preventive care and wellness medicine
  • Internal medicine and diagnostics
  • Dentistry
  • Soft tissue surgery
  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Urgent and emergency care
  • We are prepared to offer opportunities for continuing education in these areas as well as on-site mentorship where you can learn first-hand.

Perhaps our greatest asset is the trust we've built with our clients. They value our recommendations, appreciate the personalized care that only an independent practice can provide, and become lifelong partners in their pets' health.

Key Requirements

  • We're seeking a compassionate, team-oriented veterinarian who enjoys practicing high-quality medicine and values strong relationships with clients and coworkers. The ideal candidate will have:
  • Strong diagnostic and medical skills
  • Surgical and dental proficiency
