Emergency Veterinarian – Specialty & Emergency (Torrance, CA)
Bixby Animal Specialty & Emergency is seeking full-time Emergency Veterinarians for swing and overnight shifts at our 24/7 hospital in Torrance, CA.
We're the newest specialty and emergency hospital in Southern California and are continuing to grow rapidly through strong referral relationships and community presence. Bixby is a family-owned practice, and this is our fourth—and largest—location.
Internship training is preferred but not required. Candidates with prior ER experience or a strong interest in emergency medicine are encouraged to apply.
Our doctors work alongside board-certified specialists in internal medicine, surgery, and critical care, with additional on-call support in cardiology and anesthesia. We place a strong emphasis on collaboration, with an environment that encourages case discussion and easy access to specialist support when needed.
Our facility was purpose-built and includes:
- 10 exam rooms
- 4 surgery suites with a separate dirty surgery ward
- Separate dog and cat wards
- Digital full-body and dental radiography
- In-house laboratory (Idexx Catalyst, SnapPro, Abaxis PT/PTT, CBC)
- Radiometer
- CT, ultrasound, and endoscopy
- Full dental suite
- ICU (oxygen) cages
- In-house and online pharmacy
This is an opportunity to practice high-quality emergency medicine in a well-equipped, growing hospital with strong specialist support and a collaborative team culture. You'll practice medicine the way you want while earning competitive compensation and benefits, which include:
- $200,000–$250,000 base salary (depending on experience and schedule)
- Quarterly production bonuses with no negative accrual

Requirements
- Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA-accredited university
- Valid license to practice in California, prior to start date
- Internship-trained in emergency medicine
- Commitment to practicing medicine in accordance with CA VMB standards and veterinary medical ethics
- Exemplary behavior in all matters of hospital leadership
- TN visa sponsorship may be considered for eligible candidates.
