Job Summary
This position will predominantly involve working with and maintaining the health of our extensive mouse colonies.
Specific tasks that applicants can expect to regularly perform include:
Administration of therapeutic agents to mice orally or by injection
Humane euthanasia of mice
Collection of tissue and blood from humanely euthanized mice
Assist in animal surgeries and other animal related procedures.
Maintain mouse colonies:
Setting up and maintaining breeder cages,
Maintaining non-breeding cages
Animal handling including weaning, ear notching, tail snips, and maintaining colony records.
Minimal standard benchwork may also be required, however, applicants should expect that 90% of their responsibilities will involve direct work with murine models.

EDUCATION
Required
Associate’s or Bachelor's degree
Veterinary technologist certification or equivalent
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
Experience working with pre-clinical models (e.g. mice).

Preferred
Experience in animal related studies (e.g., mouse genotyping, colony maintenance, PCR genotyping, mouse PO/IP/SQ/IV drug administration and tissue dissection).
Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Mouse colony maintenance, consisting of setting up and maintaining breeder cages, maintaining nonbreeding cages, animal handling, such as weaning, and maintaining colony records.
Animal handling, consisting of drug administration (oral and injection), humane euthanasia of mice, mouse surgeries and necropsies, tissue and serum acquisition.
General Responsibilities
Maintain organized records of mouse colonies
Maintain organized records of tissues obtained from in vivo studies
Serve as a liaison between in vivo therapeutics team and academic research team
Initiate frequent communication regarding in vivo studies with senior members of academic research team.
Assist with the initiation of in vivo studies, including working with other members of the in vivo therapeutics team to identify mice of appropriate age, genotypes etc.
Initiate and execute tolerability, PK/PD and efficacy studies with guidance and supervision from senior staff
