Role Description:
CVETS is seeking a skilled and compassionate full-time, on-site Veterinary Dentist to join our growing specialty team in Columbia, SC. This is an exciting opportunity to establish and lead our dentistry service line within a supportive and progressive environment. The Veterinary Dentist will be responsible for providing comprehensive dental care to our patients, collaborating with our referring veterinarians and other specialists, and contributing to the overall advancement of veterinary medicine at CVETS. This role requires a highly motivated individual with a strong commitment to patient care and a desire to build a thriving dental practice within our hospital.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive dental examinations, cleanings, treatments (including restorations, extractions, and endodontics), and oral surgery procedures for canine and feline patients.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and current best practices.
- Utilize and maintain dental radiology equipment and interpret dental radiographs.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
- Collaborate effectively with emergency doctors, other specialists (including Anesthesia and Surgery), and referring veterinarians to ensure seamless patient care.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding dental findings, treatment options, and home care recommendations.
- Participate in hospital rounds and contribute to case discussions.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in veterinary dentistry through continuing education.
- Contribute to the development of protocols and best practices for the dentistry service.
- Potentially mentor and train veterinary technicians and assistants in dental procedures.
- Develop and deliver engaging lectures and presentations on relevant veterinary dentistry topics for our monthly continuing education (CE) events for referring primary veterinarians.

Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a residency program in Veterinary Dentistry accredited by the American Veterinary Dental College® (AVDC®) or the European Veterinary Dental College (EVDC).
- Board certification or eligibility for board certification by the AVDC® or EVDC.
- Excellent clinical skills in all aspects of veterinary dentistry and oral surgery.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with colleagues and clients.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical records.
